Skydas Contribution – Entrance Doors

‘Baltijos skydas’ was commissioned to create a bespoke security entrance door solution to replace the existing glass-fronted doors. The previous entrance did not provide the required level of security and was visually out of keeping with the prestigious surroundings. The new doors were therefore designed not only as a security element, but also as an integral part of the building’s entrance architecture.

Design Adapted to the Surroundings

Before developing the doors, the history and architectural character of Mayfair were considered to ensure that the new solution would complement the building and its surroundings. The classical door composition was developed in response to the proportions of the façade, its decorative elements, and the formal character of the entrance.

The new doors feature a dark, almost black finish and a classical six-panel composition. The raised panels are framed with decorative mouldings, while repeated metal detailing adds visual character and emphasizes the substantial construction of the doors.

Entrance Architectural Composition

The doors are set within a light-coloured façade, while the large glazed transom bearing the ‘The Mayfair House’ inscription remains an important part of the entrance composition. The dark doors create a strong contrast with the light façade, visually emphasizing the main entrance.

Symmetrically positioned planters, classical façade surrounds, wall-mounted lamps, and the door number 43 complete the overall composition. The new doors give the entrance a more solid and imposing character while maintaining a strong connection with the historic architectural setting of Mayfair.
