Skydas Works – Historic Entrance Doors in Portugal
The “Baltijos skydas” team manufactured and installed new entrance doors based on the existing architectural character, preserving the original composition and decorative elements of the historic entrance.
Doors Based on the Original Composition
The main entrance retains its four-leaf configuration, original proportions, glazed upper sections, and arrangement of decorative panels. The new doors were developed based on the existing door composition, preserving an appearance closely aligned with the historic entrance.
The adjacent single-leaf doors also retain their distinctive decorative structure, including geometric glazed panels, profiled lower panels, and a decorative lion-head door knocker.

Finish and Details
The new doors feature a deep blue finish, highlighting the entrance against the light stone surrounds and white rendered façade. The colour adds definition to the entrance while maintaining a strong connection with the historic architectural setting.
Decorative panels, glazed sections, and distinctive hardware preserve the key visual elements of the original entrance. The lion-head door knocker and gold-tone hardware details provide characteristic accents and reinforce the historic character of the composition.

Before and After
Before replacement, the original doors were heavily weathered, with worn surfaces and damaged paintwork. The new doors reproduce the main forms, proportions, and decorative elements of the original composition while giving the entrance a renewed and cohesive appearance.
This project demonstrates how bespoke doors can be adapted to the architecture of a historic building, preserving its distinctive entrance elements and their visual relationship with the facade.
